Test methodology

Eurofins Technologies’ VIRSeek RT-PCR* platform tests for coronavirus using an initial screening for the E-gene, which encodes for the envelope surrounding the viral shell and can be used in conjunction with the VIRSeek SARS-CoV-2 Ident kit to confirm the pandemic virus. Testing is performed at our Eurofins Experchem (Ontario) laboratory which serves as our coronavirus competence center for surface monitoring in Canada.

*This test is appropriate for environmental surfaces (door handles, phones, common touchpoints, etc.). This test is not a clinical test and should not be used on personnel to determine if they are infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
